I asked around and some very wise, frugal ladies on 4on4 yahoo groups (if you don't know about this group, you should join. It's a great group to belong to! The ladies are so kind and the owner is such a beautiful person. Give it a try. You won't be sorry you did!)told me that I should get the Popeil pasta maker. So I did! I found what I *thought* was a great deal. The machine is running around $80.00-100.00 on Ebay. I found it for $30.00 from a local woman. She told me it was never used. When I first saw it, it was all wrapped up in plastic, still in the box. I thought "Great, I'm about to become a pasta making fool!" I took it home and made my first batch of pasta. It worked OK but seemed a bit sluggish. I made the second batch and the blade didn't want to turn, like a gear was slipping or something. I took it apart and discovered that the lady wasn't so honest and the machine not only had been used but was broken. I found out that I could buy the part for about $8.00 plus $6.50 shipping. Wonderful! I'm still working on a great deal because even with the part, it's still cheaper than on Ebay. I order the part and it arrives on Saturday. I have been chopping at the bit to make some pasta again. My family LOVES Kluski noodles. I get the machine out and start putting it together. Come to find out, the new part is missing a part! I wrote to the person who sold me the blade and they agreed that I could return it and they would refund minus shipping. I'm not going to return because the money that would be refunded would just cover the postage back so that this person can resell it. I'm so disappointed. Someone does not want me making pasta. :( My husband is going to try to "fix" the broken piece with some wonder-bond he has. I hope he can do it. If not, I'll have to start over again and try to find another blade with both pieces.
I was planning on homemade chicken soup with Kluski noodles and homemade bread. I'll still make it all but the noodles won't be Kluski as they're too hard to make by hand.
I can't believe that it's November 8th already. Time is flying. I thought once I wasn't working anymore, it would go by slower but nope, still in overdrive. Christmas will be here before you know it! I can't wait. If I had my way, the tree would be up and the house would be decked. I live with Scrooge though and he says nothing goes up until after Thanksgiving. So, right after Thanksgiving dinner, it's decoration time. I'm not even gonna wait for the meal to settle in his stomach! heheh
I love having him home. He wishes he had a job and money wise so do I but we both like being home together. We're best friends and it's just nice to spend time together like this. I can see how retirement will be and I'm loving it!
Well, enough typing for now. I'm going to go finish my cooking and help hubby out in the new kitchen.
I hope ya'll have a wonderful day wherever you may be.
Take care,
Pam
UPDATE: My wonderful, handsome, genius husband fixed the broken piece to the pasta maker! I made 2 lbs of pasta in no time. Just one of the many reasons I love this man with all my heart. : ) Thank you, God!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, sweet!
